Botak Jones
This post is 2 (or was it 3?) weeks late..!
Anyway I finally went to try Botak Jones at Clementi a few weeks ago and it certainly lived up to the hype (and my very high expectations!) I was there early with my sis, and we had nothing to do so we ordered a $3 bowl of extremely addictive paprika fries for starters:
The both of us could have made a meal out of that (it was a lot) but we decided to save it for Fenglei while we went ahead and ordered the main courses: A 200g ribeye steak, medium well, cajun chicken and a Botak Burger with cheese. I practically inhaled the steak, which was..how to say..very beefy tasting, almost like Mac's patties (and that's not a bad thing, I know it should be but it's not) And the brown sauce, which is excessively salty on its own, went really well with the steak and fries. The cajun chicken wasn't as good-it was overcooked and tough, and didn't taste too great either. I probably would've been less harsh if I hadn't already tried eBlackboard's cajun chicken, (which incidentally is the best I've tried for $6) but on the good side, it came with a more generous slab of cheese. As for the Botak Burger, it tasted just like how it looked. (ie cheesy and beefy.. =P) Nothing spectacular, tasted very home-made, but good nonetheless!
The steak was just a biit pricey at $13.50 (ribeye set meal at jack's place for $14, includes soup, garlic bread, dessert and tea) but the chicken and burger were $6 and $5.50 respectively. I'll be back this Saturday for more!
